Denim on a Monday?

Why yes! I am all for looking professional and I generally do. There are the occasional days when I have let my more casual side of my closet get into my drowsy head in the morning, resulting in poor outfit choices for the workplace (I am not wearing my distressed jeans to work anymore!) However, I don't think that just because an article of clothing is denim that it is therefore casual. Take these pants, for instance. I think this is a completely work appropriate look and I loved it all day while I was wearing it. Some of my fellow colleagues and friends gave me a hard time since it wasn't dress down Friday, but all in jest. The truth of the matter is, I feel like the way I dress has a direct correlation to who I am and I know that many of the students relate better to teachers that they feel they have a connection with. Plus, so many of my kids ask me where I get my clothing.

We had a nice, relaxing weekend although I definitely stayed up too late last night watching the Super Bowl. I really didn't care who won until I started watching. It is hard not to root for the underdog. And the underdog won! How fun.

Damien is cooking Irish pancakes for dinner right now. Has anyone else ever had them before? They are so so good. We add just lemon juice and maple sugar to them and they are delicious. I am having them with strawberries and blueberries on the side. And the best part is, they are completely vegan!

  2. I love your top -- the rosettes are so pretty. I think denim can be appropriate for the workplace as long as you put effort into what you wear (like you said, no distressed pairs). I think it's wonderful the way you interpret how you dress and the way your students relate to you.

I've never had Irish pancakes before but they sound delicious!

  4. I think you can absolutely wear denim and still look professional. My school is pretty relaxed on jeans, so I do wear them on non-Fridays every so often.

p.s. I gave you an award on my blog http://knitteachride.blogspot.com
