Pregnant on Prom Night

I really hope I was the only one! Last night was the Junior/Senior Prom at our high school and I was one of the chaperones (always am!). It was a pretty uneventful night, as far as I know. The prom itself was nice, and everyone looked wonderful.

Surprisingly, I was served a great vegan meal, which never seems to happen at functions like this (quinoa over veggies). I have been doing pretty well with the whole vegan thing so far. I have definitely strayed at times, but I think I can count them on one hand and it has been 5 months so that isn't bad. Damien and I have had many conversations about whether or not to raise our children vegan. They will definitely be raised vegetarian and probably most things in our house will be animal by-product free, but as far as outside our home, we are not going to be strict about being vegan. In the area in which we live, it is extremely difficult on a day-to-day basis to follow a vegan diet. Our closest veggie friendly restaurant is over 30 minutes away which is fine once in awhile but won't fly all the time. Plus, we want our kids to be able to go out for ice cream if they want. I plan on continuing to live a mostly vegan diet, but I am also troubled by the lack of options around me. I am happy with what I am doing now.

Today started as a miserable, rainy day, but now the sun is out, shining bright, so it's time to find something to do. Enjoy your weekend!

  1. You look really glamorous as a pregnant prom-goer! :) My sister-in-law chaperones a lot of formal events at her school, and it must be a fun excuse to get dressed up.
