After such an amazing summer, but one that left all of our heads spinning come August, we decided that this year we would be paring back our normal birthday party for Max. Each year, we have held a big, outdoor party to not only celebrate Max but also as a nice end-of-summer excuse to see all of our friends and family and enjoy the beginning of fall. This year, instead, we had a much smaller party, with family and lots and lots of sweets. I may have overdone it a bit with the sweets in fact but the kids didn't seem to mind. And in the end, they each got a thank-you toothbrush. It was also nice that come the end of the party, we weren't completely inundated with new toys. We were able to find a spot in our newly revamped basement for the new ones without overwhelming what we had tried so hard to organize. Thanks to everyone that came; we loved having you.
